This was a piece I enjoyed working on thoroughly. I'm not in love with it and I hoped to have more time on it. Incidentally it didn't make the top 50 and I have many reasons of my own as to why that is. Right now I'm interested in what you guys have to say, particularly those of you who have experience in designing for games. I have no professional experience in game concept work so have at it. please. :D
I've not been involved in the DW competition ever myself, but after glancing through previous winners it appears that quantity and complexity of gear (accessories, and weaponry) is a major consideration.
I've noticed that too but I didn't consider that as critical while conceptualizing my character. I'll definitely apply that for next time. There is a certain look about game characters that I think game developers are used to looking for. There were some phenomenal entrants last year that you'd be sure would make the top rankings but didn't come close. Maybe it's because they seemed to work better in a film environment than a game one. That may change as the line between game and cinema blurs.
Hi, I'm doing a university project and I'd like to reference your work as an example of a character concept sheet style.. Would that be okay?
Hi Kyra,
Sure, you can use my concept as an example. Thanks for asking.
